The Pocket Programmer 2 lists at $149.95 as of October 9, 2003. It has not fluctuated in price much. It supports a wide variety of chips, has decent software for windows and dos. It can burn MCUs and all sorts of weird chips through a variety of add-on adapters. This is a very common Rom Burner as it was packaged with Hondata.

IMHO, the pocket programmer 2 isn't a bad deal, particularly for someone seeking a polished product. Xtronics technical support is pretty decent, they keep the software up to date but I've seen many of these programmers be very, very, very peculiar. I never successfully burned a ROM with my old thinkpad T20, but it worked fine with my current thinkpad T21. Not a bad burner for the price, but after using the Super Pro Z I'd never buy one again. -Dave
